AmbiSpace is Ambimat Electronics’ aerospace and space-electronics practice. Ambimat has served design, development and fabrication needs for ISRO, India for over three decades, delivering ground checkout and evaluation instrumentation, payload control and telemetry subsystems, and the test equipment used to qualify them.
The work covered here is project engineering rather than catalogue product. Each system below was built to a mission requirement, housed in a rack-mountable chassis and qualified before delivery. Ambimat has been a design partner for products used in the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions.
Microcontroller-based unit that controls and monitors up-converter switching from its front panel in local or remote mode, and the switching path of two up-converters in the uplink transmit chain. Concept to fabrication, 2U rack chassis.
Generates the clocks and command signals a payload needs during ground testing when the spacecraft mainframe is absent. Motherboard plus daughter-board architecture, in a 4U rack chassis.
A rack instrument with front-panel display and controls, delivered from concept through to fabrication as the data interface unit for an automated weather station.
A one-to-one cable extender with signal monitoring on a banana socket per connection, covering several D-type connector variants, with active monitoring of digital signals added.
Generates the timing and control signals a payload requires and acquires its health-monitoring telemetry, connected serially to the spacecraft computer. Housed in machined 6061 aluminium trays.
Mixed digital and RF layout on a single six-layer PCB: an FPGA with its buffers and drivers alongside a two-way 90-degree combiner/splitter, SPDT switch and transmit power amplifier.
Continuity tester with jigs for D-type, SCSI, RJ-45 and other connectors, customisable for more. Sequential pin scanning is repeated before a report is generated, with software for automated testing.
Interfaces to a computer and acquires payload health-monitoring data in analog and digital form over telemetry channels. Part of the electro-optical ground checkout instrumentation.
Supports ground testing of electro-optical sensors for remote sensing, receiving payload data in a form suited to a computer-based acquisition system, with a selectable analog quick-look channel.
Several of the subsystems share a common engineering approach. A motherboard plus daughter-board architecture keeps the design open to later expansion; the electronics are housed in rack-mountable 2U or 4U chassis, or in machined aluminium tray stacks where mechanical stability matters more; and the completed units are subjected to a 168-hour burn-in test before they leave the laboratory. Where the deliverable is a tester rather than a flight-support subsystem, the hardware is accompanied by Ambimat-written software for automated test sequencing and report generation.
AmbiSpace work is delivered as a design and fabrication engagement rather than an off-the-shelf purchase. Ambimat’s scope on these projects has ranged from PCB layout against a supplied schematic through to full concept-to-fabrication ownership including mechanical design, assembly, burn-in and test software.
