AmbiPower

AmbiPower is Ambimat’s utility and metering business — the metering, communication and control hardware that sits between a meter in the field and the people who have to run the network.

It exists as a separate offering because utility work is genuinely different from the rest of Ambimat’s portfolio. The equipment is already in the ground, the replacement cycle is measured in decades, regulation shapes what can change, and the customer’s real problem is usually not the meter itself but everything downstream of it — getting the reading back, getting it into operations, and doing that without replacing infrastructure that still works.

What AmbiPower covers

Remote meter reading

Moving utilities from manual reads toward automated meter reading, and from AMR toward AMI, using network infrastructure they already have rather than a forklift replacement.

Advanced meter reading

Field data into operations

Carrying readings and events back over RF or cellular links so network state is visible where decisions are made, including SCADA and smart-grid contexts.

Smart grid

Retrofit rather than replacement

Adding communication and data capture to installed meters and panels — usually the only commercially realistic path for a distribution utility. Retrofit modules, data extraction and storage units, remote terminal units and reset devices.

Field hardware

Field and customer applications

The AmbiPower UDR application for the workforce doing the reads, and making consumption data available to the utility’s own customers.

How Ambimat contributes

Utility programmes rarely stay inside one discipline. A metering rollout usually touches RF and cellular communication design, secure key handling on devices that will be in the field for years, and the manufacturing and test discipline needed to ship in volume. Those are the same capabilities Ambimat applies to industrial, payment and IoT work, which is why AmbiPower is a focused business rather than a separate company.

If your programme spans both — metering plus, say, secure element provisioning or a broader IoT security architecture from AmbiSecure — it is worth raising that early, because it changes how the platform should be specified.

Specifications, solution notes, resources on choosing an AMR communication technology, downloads and FAQs all live on the dedicated AmbiPower property. That is the authoritative source for anything product-specific.

If you are not sure whether your requirement belongs with AmbiPower or with Ambimat’s wider engineering services, get in touch and describe the deployment — meter population, communication environment, and what has to reach your operations systems.
