Read MoreEvery engagement below started the same way: a customer had a working process, a constraint they could not design around, and no appetite for replacing equipment that was otherwise doing its job. The interesting engineering is usually in that gap — between what is already installed and what the customer now needs it to do.
Four themes run through the collection. Retrofit over replacement: adding remote control or measurement to plant that was never built for it. Multi-vendor integration: making equipment from different manufacturers, with different protocols, behave as one system. Measuring what was previously invisible: turning shop-floor or field activity into data somebody can act on. And firmware that has to be demonstrably correct, where the deliverable is not only working code but the evidence that it works.
The range is deliberate. The projects span power and utilities, discrete manufacturing, building services, medical devices and education, and they span four decades — from microprocessor trainer hardware in the 8085 era through to microcontroller firmware developed and verified against a written specification. That spread is the point: the domains change, the engineering discipline does not.
Read them as worked examples rather than as a catalogue. Each one sets out the constraint, the approach taken, and what was actually delivered. Where a customer's identity or product is confidential it stays that way, and the technical substance is described without it.
