Mobile app development and cloud computing: requirement analysis, design, development, testing and deployment

Device applications, cloud aggregation and mobile front ends

Ambimat Electronics builds the software that sits above the device: the cloud side that collects and stores what a product reports, and the Android and iOS applications through which people see and control it. This work is carried out in-house, alongside the firmware and the hardware on the same programme, so the path from a sensor reading to a screen is designed as one piece rather than handed between suppliers.

What Ambimat builds

  • Cloud-based data aggregation for device data.
  • Enterprise cloud platform integration, including Amazon AWS and the Google IoT platform.
  • Android and iOS applications that read from the cloud platform and present device data on a graphical interface.

How the device connects to it

Getting the data up is a firmware concern before it is a cloud one. Ambimat’s device software reports to backend servers over MQTT or RESTful APIs, and where the volume of raw data is the cost driver, processing can be moved onto the device instead of the cloud. That side of the work is described under embedded firmware and device software.

When a customer needs this

  • A device already reports data and nobody can see it without a dashboard or an app.
  • Device data has to reach an existing enterprise cloud platform rather than a new one.
  • Hardware, firmware and the application layer are being built together and the customer wants one team accountable for all three.

Where this sits in a programme

This is a supporting capability within AmbiIoT, Ambimat’s IoT and embedded product design and development service. It is most often engaged alongside hardware and firmware rather than on its own, and concept-through-production programmes are covered by turnkey design and development. The customer owns the IP.

Discuss an application requirement
