Microprocessors started gaining popularity since Intel announced 8085 in 1976.
Engineering Schools introduced them in their curriculum and the need for development kits and hardware boards for hands-on exposure was felt. India had no other option but to import such development kits for the growing requirement in the education field.
Ambimat’s Thought Process – Solution
Ambimat was one of the first in India to take up this challenge to develop such kits indigenously with optional add on experimental interface boards for the education sector.
Technology Used
Ambimat developed kits for 8085 / Z80 / 6502 / 8086 processors with interfaces to program EPROMS / EEPROMS, interface to write / read data packets to/from magnetic audio tapes prevalent at that time. Additional Interface boards for I/O ports, ADC/DAC, relay drive, etc were also designed and offered to the education sector

Back in 1976 when Intel announced the 8085 processor, microprocessors started gaining popularity. The engineering schools in India at the time introduced the concept of microprocessors in the curriculum. In order to provide hands-on training to the students, there was a need to get such development kits in their hands. Due to the absence of local vendors providing such kits India was left with no other option but to import them. The demand was only growing and the import made the kits extremely expensive for the engineering schools to afford to create a huge demand for local vendors to provide them
Ambimat’s Thought Process – Solution
Ambimat Electronics was perhaps the only company at the time of inception in 1982 with the capability of designing such kits in India, manufacturing them, and providing them to the engineering schools of the country.
Hence Ambimat Electronics not only designed the kits but also made sure to manufacture the same locally. Our CEO and Founder, Mr. Durgesh Shah, used to hand make the PCBs for all the kits and were sold under the brand of Ambitronix
